Affirmation

On June 12, 2013 Levi Everett made his way into this world. He made his way into this world two weeks early, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice, and he did not want to cry. I'm sure that Levi's doctor had seen all of these things many times during his eighteen years as a pediatrician, but to my wife and I, Levi was a whole new world. At that moment, the miracle of birth took on a new meaning as we stared lovingly at our boy with his full head of hair, tiny tongue, and long fingers. Our baby was certainly a gift from our Almighty Father, but he was not our Father's child.

Very early in the morning on June 14, 2013 Levi Everett made his way into a new family. He made his way into Jesus' family. Levi had his sins washed clean by the water and the word. In that moment Levi became someone very special, he became a child of God.

On July 14 2013, Levi Everett had his baptism affirmed in front of the members of Grace Lutheran Church. What a wonderful reminder,

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death by the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ." ( 1 Peter 3:18-21)

Levi Everett is a redeemed child of God thanks to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that is what sets him a part. As Mom and Dad chronicle the life of our wonderful baby we intend to keep this at the forefront of our minds.
